Ok, get a cup of coffee and a sandwich, I'll wait.
Great, you're back, we can get started. Making a film is a long and drawn out process, not something to be taken lightly. "Oh, I think I'll make a film"; If you have a gazillion bucks in the bank, great, if not-
First, what type of film are you going to make?
Who's paying the bills? -
If I sound like I'm in a rut, been there, done that.
What format are you going to shoot? You have a few to choose from.
Are you going to be inside or out, or both? Yes, you need lights out side as well as inside to get rid of unwanted shadows and to get even light everywhere. I teach a course in lighting which covers inside and outside lighting. Talk to me about it.
Do you have a story? Yeah, I know, a no brainier except that, you'd be surprised at the people who either don't have a storyline, or change the storyline every few days or weeks. This puts a huge financial strain on whoever is writing the checks. There I go again.
Ok, now that you have the simple stuff done, let's get down to it and make a film.
If you use actors, props, cameras, cranes, booms, lights, sound etc, you need to get some permits from the city or town you're shooting in. The town may need to close off a street for a day so you can get that 30 seconds of footage. They have to assign some police (you have to pay for that) If you have a large group of extras, etc., you need a nurse in case someone gets hurt. Oh, did you get your insurance for the shoot? If you didn't , make sure to have every one connected with the film sign a release. Make sure your attorney looks these over first, just in case. Have you been adding this all up?
Now for the good news; AV-Edit can take care of all of these little problems for you so all you have to do is make a film. (No , I didn't say we were going to pay for these services, but we'll do all the leg work and hook you up with the best people in the business, BUT, at a price you can afford) Don't forget to speak with us about your project, but remember, it takes about 90 days to get everything set up. Once you get into the swing of things, 90 days goes by in no time.
